Meet the Founder
Hi! I'm Talu!
I’m the founder and lead educator at SpeechSense Academy.

I’ve lived in 12 different places across Brazil and the U.S. After teaching pronunciation and modeling articulation exercises for 10 years, I unfortunately lost my cute Brazilian accent but honed my ability to help my students reach their English learning goals. ​​

​My journey in language education has been as diverse as my background. I’m passionate about education, and that led me to study linguistics.
Curiosity is at the core of my existence. I’ve explored and learned a lot from diverse fields like banking and programming, often jumping between different industries. But through it all, teaching has always been my constant. I never stopped teaching and learning about teaching methods and theory.
When I’m not working directly with students or diving into research on language acquisition, you can find me reading, cycling through Boston, playing board games, window shopping at thrift markets, starting a new random project (ask me about my new app!) or watching a reality TV show with the most ridiculous premise you can possibly imagine.
After all, learning a language is about communicating to the world who you are, with all your quirks and passions. Language is the medium, not the goal. Knowing English allows me to explore life fully and express my true self – and that's exactly what I want for you. I’m deeply passionate about fostering a sense of belonging and guiding people on their journey toward fluency and true integration – beyond just mechanical learning and mere assimilation.
